Okay, here we go, in character order.
 - First of all, Terra is dumb. Like, KH!Riku dumb. The longer his scenario goes on, the more you want to yell "How are you not aware of what Master Xehanort is playing at here, you moron?!"

 - His voice actor is also pretty bad, in that he can't do subtle emotions. He's great with the extreme stuff, like after you beat Master Eraquis, but otherwise he speaks in a monotone.

 - Speaking of which, that Master Eraquis battle/scene was nicely done. Eraquis's inability to stop Terra from falling to the darkness being a result of his own terror of falling to it himself was fantastic.

 - The final battle. Oh god. When Xehanort first possesses Terra, and the camera starts to pan up and you hear fake!Ansem's familar VA, you then realize with horror how there was a Xehanort here and the one we know from the other games. And then Terra's armor rises up to fight Xehanort!Terra. D:

 - Finally afterwards you hear Terra monologue "Ven, Aqua...someday I'll make this right." And no matter how dumb he was, you feel horrified for him.
 - Jesse McCartney continues to do a good job with Roxas/Ventus. Nothing else to say really.

 - Speaking of the Roxas/Ventus duality, no matter what his name his, his likeness is just a nice guy who gets screwed. In Ventus's case, Xehanort uses him to create the x-blade by splitting him into a light form and dark form (Vanitas) and having them fight each other. This requires Ventus to have Sora's newly born heart to merge with his just so he can survive. And in the end, the only way to stop Xehanort's plot is for Ventus to end both his and Vanitas's existence. More on this later.

 - Vanitas is voiced by Haley Joel Osment. Didn't even know it was him until I saw the credits. Excellent job by Haley there.

 - And there's a reason he is, because he looks exactly like Sora, except with black hair and yellow eyes. Nice irony there, creators.

- One more note on Vanitas. He has the best battle theme I've heard all year, hands down.
Aqua's VA is inconsistent. Sometimes she'll nail it, sometimes she'll flatline it. It's too bad because she has a nice, unique voice.

 - Onto Aqua herself, there's nothing that particularly stands out about her, but in a way that works. She just goes about her business with a quiet confidence, and with her friends always at the forefront of her mind.

 - One thing that does though is that she's the first controllable protagonist whose primary weapon is her magic, so wailing on unversed with her keyblade is not the way to go about things. With the new MP system and plethora of powerful magic, this works really well. At the end of the game I had her wailing on crap with Mega Flare and Glacier.

 - Aqua meets four year old Kairi in Radiant Garden. Kairi gives her flowers (which turns into the keyblade she later uses in KHII), and Aqua casts a deus ex machina spell on her so that she'll go straight to Sora when Radiant Garden collapses. Shoe-horned in, but I liked it.

 - Zack asks Aqua on a date. Enough said.
 - With Terra possessed by Xehanort and Ventus essentially in a coma, Aqua is the controllable character here. She takes Ventus back to their homeland, and seals the world the way Eraquis taught her to. This turns into Castle Oblivion, which is incredibly awesome and explains so much.

 - Aqua then heads off to Radiant Garden to take on Xehanort!Terra, who as a result of his fight with Terra's armor, doesn't even know who he is. He even summons the dark guardian he uses in the original game. After the fight (in which Terra even helps Aqua fight), he regains some memory and tries to get rid of Terra's heart for good, which sends him to the realm of darkness, and Aqua after him. She then sacrifices herself and her armor to get him back to Radiant Garden, setting up everything we already know.

 - Ventus and Sora both shed a tear, and Ventus merges his heart back with Sora's setting up Roxas's existence later, which is also awesome.
 - This is what everyone wanted to see. Aqua survives in the dark realm for ten years without her armor (How fucking awesome is that?), and she runs into Ansem the Wise at the dark shore. His memory is in fragments after KHII, but he explains that Sora will set things right eventually (which is accompanied by a number of important characters from the series saying the same.

 - Then we finally get back to the Destiny Island Trio post KHII, where Sora decides he has to go back and fight "for them." Kairi then gives him her charm and says "See you soon."

 - That last bit pisses me off. Kairi made it quite clear at the end of II that she wanted to come along the next time something like this happened, and now all of a sudden she changes her mind? Bah. I wanted playable Kairi, damn it, not the same crap we've already gotten before.
All in all, really enjoyed the game. The gameplay changes were welcome, and the storyline was generally enjoyable. KHIII needs to come out now.

Pretty much everything you said here. Terra is an idiot the whole game, but what happens to him is heartbreaking and the end of his story made me cry; Ven and Aqua were amazing and everything wove together so beautifully, Castle Oblivion too slkdfjslkjg Ven is sleeping there the whole time ahhh. I loved the secret movie and I'm really, really looking forward to seeing how Sora "fixes" the unhappy endings for his supporting characters like Roxas and Namine.

It is sad about Kairi, though, although I've always had a problem swallowing her as a keyblade master. A fairly big deal has been made of keyblades being sentient / choosing their wielders, so the idea of Riku just handing her one and that being "her keyblade" now, forever, didn't sit right with me. But I definitely hope that in the actual game (the secret movie I'll give a pass for it) she has more of a reaction than "Oh. Well, good luck with that, boys. :) I'll be here, waiting!"
